SUMMER PERMITS
Vehicles parked in employee areas on campus must have a valid employee permit. Permits only grant parking to vehicles registered to your permit with Parking Services. Unless virtual, permits must be properly displayed on the lower left, driver's side, of the windshield. Those parked without proper permits displayed are eligible for violations. Permits can be purchased online through the permit portal. View permit types by scrolling further down on this page.
CALL PARKING SERVICES IF UNABLE TO COMPLETE ONLINE TRANSACTIONS.
If you will be on leave for any period of time, are no longer employed by MSU, or just no longer need your current employee permit, it MUST be returned to Parking Services. If eligible for a pro-rated refund, one will be issued based on refund rates at the time of return; if payroll deduction was selected, enrollment will be stopped.
If the permit is virtual, a photo of the email confirmation of purchase can be used in place of photos of the physical permit. Contact Parking Services for further details about your specific permit.
Employee permits are NOT eligible at individual meters, pay-by-plate only lots, university vehicle spaces, loading zones, student lots, visitor/patient spaces or unauthorized leased spaces. Permits are NOT valid during special events. Your MSU ID will work to open gated lots; if having issues with gate access please contact Parking Services. Accessible parking spaces in employee lots still require an MSU employee permit in addition to a valid disability license plate and/or placard.
ONLY PERMIT HOLDERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO PARK AND USE A PERMIT’S PRIVILEGES. Unauthorized transfer or use of a permit and/or gate access privileges will result in confiscation and termination of privilege(s) for at least the balance of the registration period. Parking violations may also be issued for unauthorized use of the permit and/or gate access.
2026-2027 fiscal year permits can be purchase online starting 6/1/26 - valid 7/1/26 through 6/30/27
Full time and academic year (AY) employees are eligible for this permit option.
This is a repositionable permit that allows multiple vehicles to be registered, but only one on campus at a time. The permit must be displayed on the lower left driver’s side of the windshield of the vehicle that is parked on campus. These permits utilize RFID technology that opens gated lots; your MSU ID will still allow gate access.
*Please note vehicles on your customer account do not automatically have parking privileges. The vehicle/plate must be connected to an active permit. Check out our Parking Portal How To video for guidance on updating and adding vehicles to your permit.
Motorcycles (over 100CC) are not allowed to park in moped parking spaces, they must park in a regular vehicle space.
You must call Parking Services to make changes to the vehicle or license plate connected to your permit privileges. Only one vehicle can be connected for parking privileges at a time.
VEHICLE/PLATE INFORMATION MUST MATCH WHAT IS LISTED ON FILE WITH THE PERMIT TO GRANT PARKING PRIVILEGES.
A replacement request should be submitted if you lost your permit, never received the permit in the mail, or were involved in an accident. Incomplete information may cause a delay in review and approvals. Replacement requests may require a $30 replacement charge.
