Whether residing on or off campus, students must register their vehicle with Parking Services if parking on campus. If living on campus, you must have 28 credits finalized with MSU to be offered a vehicle permit. Unless virtual, permits must be properly affixed to the lower left, driver's side of the windshield. Those parked without proper permits displayed are eligible for violations. Permits can be purchased in the permit portal. View permit details further down on this page.
If you no longer need your current student permit, it should be returned to Parking Services. If eligible for a pro-rated refund, one will be issued based on refund rates at the time of return. If the permit is virtual, a photo of the email confirmation of purchase can be used in place of photos of the physical permit. Contact Parking Services for further details about your specific permit.
Student permits are NOT valid at individual meters, pay-by-plate lots, university vehicle spaces, loading zones, leased spaces, visitor/patient spaces, or employee areas. Vehicles must be parked in designated parking spaces within the permitted lot to have valid parking. Permits are not valid during special events. Accessible parking spaces require an eligible MSU permit or payment in addition to a valid disability license plate and/or placard. Lot requirements are noted on entry signage.
